I just want to drink a hot beverage, pet some dogs, and be creative.
For years I created on the web. For a long time it was enough, until it wasn’t.
I’m creating again in new ways, in old ways, in ways I never even considered.
Hey! I’m Mel, a momma to many 4-legged babies, a wife, an artist, a pumpkin connoisseur, a creative entrepreneur, a designer, and total introvert. Sometimes it amazes me that this (THIS!) is my life.
I own a small but mighty design studio with my better half and partner (of 20 years), Sean.
I kinda love fabulous fonts. Like really. It’s a thing.
I’m also completely addicted chapstick and make my own.
I’ve been blogging since 2002, before it was cool and everyone and their dog blogged.
I built my first blog on blogspot (when it wasn’t owned by google) and coded it by hand in notepad.
I bought my first domain, and then my second (highlymoody.com) and this is where I learned how to build blogs with some of the best tools of the time, including MT and WP. Back then we designed and built blogs for bloggers for $99 – and sometimes even a BOGO sale! It was crazy and fun.
From there my love for EE was born and I stepped out of the “blog” world and into creating websites and building brands with start-ups, small businesses and Fortune 500 companies.
Emtwo was born 10 years ago, in a small little corner of a 500 square foot apartment, on Long Island — I never dreamed it would be what it is today.
Good Times, Noodle Salad.
Running a successful online business takes work and I’ve been in the trenches, doing that work for the last 12 years. I’ve been bruised and beaten yet I wouldn’t trade any of that experience. I’m really proud of what I’ve built but, call me selfish, I want more.
More time to create the art that inspires me. Maybe it won’t make me rich in money but it brings me joy. And I’m finally in a place where that joy matters so much more than how big my business grows or how much money we make. This little piece of the internet is where I’ll share that joy with you. If it inspires just one other person, that’s enough for me.
Along the way…
I’ve built a pumpkin empire, organized the first of it’s kind online fundraiser the The Boobie-Thon, helped rescue dogs, created a popular eco-friendly pet blog, and founded a movement to stop the killing of all adoptable animals in my small rural NC county.
Check out the blog for recent updates. You can find me on instagram pretty regularly and also twitter (but not that often). If you are interested in working with me on your web design project, please feel free to reach me at Emtwo.
